Recognition for U20 stars in mainstream publication

This month's edition of World Soccer magazine featured a welcome piece on their favourite performers from the 2011 South American under-20 Championship in Peru last January/February.

The two players with (literally) the most column space were quite rightly Lucas and Juan Manuel Iturbe. There was also slightly more written about Yohandry Orozco than the rest. The reporting of each player featured was generally quite good but arguably the most pleasing thing was simply the existence of the article and the consequent recognition that some of these players will deservedly get.

Fourteen players were identified in total and GUSU was especially happy at the inclusions of Esteban Andrada, Bryan Carrasco, Christian Cueva and Diego Polenta. Others included were Alejandro Chumacero, Casemiro, Fernando Gaibor, Luis Felipe Gallegos, Adrian Luna, Dennys Quinonez and Ivan Torres. Nearly all of these players are on GUSU's Names to remember list formed after the tournament.
